Trichotillomania (Hair Pulling)

General Information about Trichotillomania. Trichotillomania is a term used to describe the irresistible urge to pull one's hair. Repeated inability to control this impulse to pull out hair from one's scalp, eyelashes, eyebrows, face, arms, legs, chest and/or genital areas can result in noticeable hair loss and can be very distressing to the individual. Prior to pulling, it is common to experience increased tension that decreases during and after pulling. Please visit the Trichotillomania Learning Center website for further information.
